Description

Cognitive dysfunction may be over-diagnosed in individuals living with sensory impairment. Poor scores on audio-visual cognitive tasks may be wrongly attributed to poor cognitive function instead of reduced sensory ability, such as in people with dual sensory impairment (DSI). This research explored the strategies that researchers and clinicians employ to adapt the administration of cognitive tests for individuals with DSI. To our knowledge, there is not a validated cognitive measure to be administered to people with DSI. Therefore, we must equip clinicians with evidence-based strategies to maximize the sensitivity of already validated tools. To accomplish that, we will initiate knowledge transfer and exchange activities.
