Demonstrating that a peer-to-peer employment mentoring model will lead to successful and lasting employment outcomes for Deafblind individual. The history of the program, Deafblind Employment Mentoring curriculum, Advocacy in Deafblind World (condensed version, for a full version, please see the full presentation on this topic), structure and expectations of this program will be covered. The impact of this program on the Deafblind interns are discussed in detail. The broader impact on the Deafblind rehabilitation field as a result of this program is also explored in the area of peer-to-peer instruction. Several spotlights indicating the successes of this model will be shown throughout. A structured employment mentoring program will lead to successful long-term employment outcomes. Adding in leadership and advocacy development to the model will ensure greater success rate. Having a peer mentor will further ensure the success of the program as well. This increases the employability of Deafblind individuals which is essential to increased well-being and quality of life for Deafblind individuals.
