2nd IAA Summit on Artificial Intelligence (AI)
February 20-21, 2025
San Francisco, USA
Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to shape industries worldwide, gaining significant public attention. Recognizing its importance, the International Actuarial Association (IAA) approved a statement of Intent for activities on AI in December 2023 to drive initiatives that promote the responsible use of AI within the actuarial profession.
As the work of the existing AI Task Force (AITF), established in early 2024, concludes, the focus shifts to the next phase of advancing AI readiness for actuaries globally. The guiding principle is clear: It’s not AI that will replace actuaries, but actuaries enabled with AI will replace those without it.
At the San Francisco Summit, we will lay the groundwork for new work streams to support actuaries around the world to become AI enabled.
In the next phase we plan to develop:
- Primers: Develop foundational guides on key AI topics.
- Research Papers: Publish insights on emerging AI advancements and trends.
- Practical Tools: Create how-to guides on machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), AI-powered chatbots, and more.
- Team Integration Strategies: Provide actionable strategies for incorporating AI into actuarial teams.
- Evaluation Frameworks: Establish standards for assessing AI systems and solutions.
These initiatives aim to enhance the global actuarial profession's AI competency by:
- Raising awareness of AI-related risks and opportunities.
- Equipping actuaries with skills to thrive in traditional and emerging fields.
- Strengthening actuarial contributions to supranational AI initiatives.
The new AITF work streams for 2025/26 will be formally agreed and set to work at the San Francisco Summit.
Join us in shaping the future of actuarial practice at the 2nd IAA Summit on AI. Together, we will define the next steps in ensuring that actuaries remain at the forefront of AI-driven innovation.
